What is a Board of Visitors (BOV)?
A BOV is a statutorily mandated volunteer committee appointed by the Sheriff to inspect the jail. The duties of the BOV are to make recommendations to the Sheriff regarding:
services and treatment for prisoners who have mental health challenges or are mentally ill, and
whether the jail management is consistent with the Sheriff's philosophy, mission, and policy goals.
