Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for the investigation various types of crimes such as sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, internal affairs, drug enforcement, robbery, burglary, suspicious deaths, and other types of crimes as assigned. Though Patrol Deputies are expected to conduct complete and thorough investigations in all assigned incidents, some cases require significantly more time, resources, and expertise to be investigated properly; these cases are forwarded onto the Detectives.
Along with general investigative knowledge and skills, each Detective is assigned to an investigative specialty. There are times that cases are assigned regardless of skill set but most times they are assigned to the Detective in that assignment. The Detectives also work closely with other agencies, such as the Department of Health and Human Services, district attorney offices, and other law enforcement agencies, in order to achieve a common goal of solving crimes.
